Strawberries and Champagne

It's late, and all I can think of....is how much I miss my closest girlfriends right now. I'm thinking of  my friend Sarah, with whom I've been friends with for 14 years...did I seriously just say that?! 14 years?!!!! OMG. Anyway, the other day, I was in Victoria's Secret, and decided to start smelling the body sprays.  The one spray, that brings back so many memories for me, is Strawberries and Champagne.  It's a scent that can take me back to specific moments with her. What may be crazy though, is certain scents remind me of most of my girlfriends...but this day I was reminded of Sarah.

Sarah is one of my dearest girlfriends.  She and I went through a lot of good and bad times growing up, but my favorite moments with her, were these: When we'd make up dance moves to songs ( "How Bizzare", "Be My Lover") if you remember those songs, then...you're cool.  We'd seriously spend hours making these things up and then taking ourselves ever so seriously when we'd perform them for our friends.  They loved it.... I'm sure...she and I took French Class 3 years in a row, drove Madame Wilson crazy, and when we decided for a French Assignment, to make a movie of a scary clown capturing a princess ....and it was all in French, we had our class in stitches.  We were good at making people laugh.  We'd be on the phone at night for hours, talking about our day at school, even though we had just spent the whole day together.  We'd go on our lunch breaks together.  She loved eating peanut butter and marshmallow fluff! The things I remember.  Once, when she was getting ready to go home, I climbed on her cars hood, and she was backing up, and forgot to close her door.  When it got caught up on a yard decoration in my moms yard and ripped the door backward....oops.  We quickly came up with a reason other than the truth how this could have happened.  I think our moms knew we were BSing them...but they never called us out.  We made a "Senior Girls Rule" sign, climbed atop the high school gym roof, hung it in all of it's glory.  We were Best Friends.  And in our senior year, we started preparing ourselves for goodbye.  She was getting ready to go college in Oregon.  I was getting ready to move out with my boyfriend.  Two different life paths, but we met up again along the way.I was so glad, when I finally was able to catch up with her again.  It was almost as though no time had passed at all.  She lives in Oklahoma now, with her husband, and just finished getting her Masters Degree. She never fails to make me laugh, and I am thankful that she is still a part of my life, even though she is far away.

Every time my head hits the pillows, I'm reminded of not only her, but of all the memories of before all of my closest friends lived so far away.
