Where I Spent the Fourth Doing Exactly What I Wanted

"I'd really love, love to go the city on the fourth.  Can we do that?"  And so it was done.  I haven't got to do something for myself on the fourth of July in 6 years.  Yea, you read that right. 6 years. I was 21 the last time I did something even remotely resembling fun, and it was...fun...with my ex husband.  But, I wanted to do something cutesy this year.  So with that we

*Drove to San Francisco PERFECT

*Sat in some heinous traffic LAME...but great cause I enjoy his company

*Parked...in a crazy redonk(ulously) priced garage....SPECIAL EVENT PRICE

*Walked along the Embarcadaro in SF

*Ate at a great restaurant....on the water...at the Pier

*Ordered a BOTTLE of wine not a first...but a FIRST with him

*Watched fireworks off of the Pier! *Ooohhhhh....Ahhhhhhh*

*Was told I was beautiful by a complete stranger BOOST

*Drove home, and laughed the whole way. Bond

You may say "Eh...sounds like nothing spectacular".  I say...it was exactly what I wanted. With who I wanted, and where I wanted.

I say it was an amazing Fourth.

Puck That Noise

So, this morning I get this text from a friend of a friend, who has become my friend, so I guess he is a mutual friend.....anyway...details, details.   "Hey, I just scored some free hockey tickets to the Sharks play offs, wanna go."  In which I stare at my phone for a nice 5 minutes or so, and think to myself "Sorry, I'd rather have my eyes jabbed out with two schorching hot steak knives before you get me to a HOCKEY game." I'm sorry, but Hockey is not a sport I care to watch, nor care to drag my butt down to San Jose, to go sit, and hang out with a bunch of people who just got done watching NASCAR and are pissed, and/or surprised that their favorite driver didn't win.  Those two "sports" are so ridiculous to me, I could barf.  Okay, so I didn't barf, but I felt like it.

Like I said earlier, I used to keep stats for baseball for my high school team!  But, before that, I also kept stats for football, and I loved it even more than I loved the baseball, because football is my secret passion, and I love it.  GO Philadelphia Eagles, and go North Carolina Panthers.   I gathered two of my closest friends at the time, and said to them, hey....wanna keep stats with me for football?!  To which they were like "Okay." I pictured us on the sidelines hosing down the little sophomore boys with their water bottles, us getting to be ON the field, with the players. That, that is bad ass!!!

I know it's not the best, but this is me, Sarah and Amber in the yearbook, sophomore year!! Go Bobcats.

The order of sports for me, is this Football Pants, Baseball Pants,  Cycling Shorts, and speedos...er..I mean swimming.  Not, Hockey bagginess, and/or sitting in a car with full on helmet and gear, and driving in circles for 6 hours.  No fucking thank you.  My ex husbands mother used to sit, and watch the T.V. while NASCAR was on, and she was watching it as though it was gonna take some crazy turn of events.  NASCAR is like The Bachelor....it's only worth watching in the last 5 minutes, that's what everyone is going to be talking about for the next week.  Otherwise, it's a bore!

The only time I ever watched NASCAR was when Dale Earnhardt passed away, when that was all that was on T.V. for 24 hours.  That was sad, but it is after all, a sport right?!?

So, when I got this invite, I didn't want to be rude, I mean, I had already told him my disgust for this "Sport", but he still asked, and deep down that made me irritated.  But, instead, I just said, "Oh no thanks, I have plans already....remember?"   And then he made a comment like "Oh yea, you think it's just for rednecks". That's not what I said, I said something way meaner.....but whatever. He pouted for a minute, like I was gonna fling up my arms and be like "Yes...take me, I can't wait", but I didn't.  Ice skating makes me nervous anyway, I always imagine people falling, and having their fingers sliced off onto the ice, that would be awkward.

So, while I know the Sharks or who ever are playing their little hearts out in San Jose, all I can think, is go Giants.  This weekend it's on against the Dodgers.  You better be shaking in your cleats.

I'll blog about you

I went on a date a few weeks ago, with this super nice guy.  It was more of a group date...but still.  Anyway, we were at Momo's. A restaurant in San Francisco, CA.  Good food, seafood, salads....steaks, etc.  First we were at the bar, and since I was with the guy who knows the owner and lives with  his son, and also another manager...drinks..on the house!! You can't beat that shit.  Everyone loves a free drink every now and then.  I like free drinks all the time, and rarely have to pay for mine.  ;-)...that's how I roll.  Anyway, we were at Momo's, and we were all talking, having a good time, and my date...lets call him Bank Boy for now...cause he works at a bank, so that's easy, we were talking about my travels, his travels, where we both would like to go to next, things like that.

He tells me he was an English Major in college...HOT, cause I loved English, and I love writing, so I tell him...I want to write a book, and I tell him my idea for it, my uncle is an editor and my aunt works for a publisher, and he thinks I could do it, and then I mention..."Oh by the way I have a blog...so be nice to me, or I'll blog about you, and it won't be pretty".  Bank Boy, is pretty much the nicest guy ever invented,so I don't think that I have anything to worry about...but let me just throw this out there, if you piss me off, I will write about you, and I won't leave a damn detail out...so you've been warned.

Anyway, once the night was over, I drove home, over the BEAUTIFUL golden gate, and as soon as I drove through the tunnel he texts me and says "I had a really nice time tonight at dinner, I think you are beautiful, and funny, and really smart." He could have just said that last part, and I still would have had a huge smile on my face.  Cause really, how do you not get a little happy when  a guy that tells you you're smart?!!

Dates are fun, I think I'll go on another.
