51 Days

“When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world”.  ~John Muir

Call me a head in the sand kind of girl, say what you will, but I hate the news. I hate watching it, more than anything.  It’s always very sad, and upsetting, and you are left feeling helpless as you sit and watch from the comfort of your couch.  I used to watch the news as I worked out at the gym, but everything was death this, stabbing that, robbery here, gas prices rocketing there.  I started having an anxiety attack, and started to cry.  I decided that from that moment on I wouldn’t willfully WATCH the news, I’d rather read it.

For the last 51 days though, the constant story among every news broadcast and newspaper, is the disaster in the Gulf.  Is it seriously still happening?  Yes.  It is. And, it’s upsetting. Every time they shoot down to the camera under the water and the oil is GUSHING out, I cringe, I can only watch it for seconds, until I realize how horrible it is.  See what I mean, just sitting there helpless. If you can’t visualize how horrible this is, check this site out. if it was my home, Pretty upsetting huh?! From Napa, it would stretch to San Francisco, and on up to my hometown of Paradise!  What can be done to stop this.  What is going to be done to reverse this?!  Nothing.  Animals are dead, birds are ruined, people are dead, and an economy in the South is suffering.

My blog isn’t a place that I spout off about news, and current events, because really—they change on a day to day basis, and like I said, I’m not always current….on the events that are happening.  But, I can tell you my feelings of it, on how I feel now!  I can’t believe with the modern day technology we have allowed this to happen for this long.  51 freaking days!! Are you kidding me?!  We are so quick to come to the aid of other countries with misfortunes happening to them, we throw big concerts, have charity events, start filming sad, depressing commercials in order to get the point across, that “Hey these people need OUR help, so throw down a buck or two.” Where are our commercials? Where is our aid?  Where are those huge concerts and events?!  Where the fuck is everybody, when we need help? Is it because it’s not a natural disaster? They had a benefit concert in May, but nothing since! WTH?!  Where is Bruce Springstein and Bono, and Will.I.Am….where the hell are these people?  I’m fucking serious.  It’s bullshit. 3 weeks ago, Kevin Costner went before Congress and offered up his solution….so what the hell is happening with that?  Clean this shit up!  Are we delaying the process to see how bad it can really get?!  Cause I’m pretty sure, we take the cake on DISASTER!!! This is going to impact EVERYBODY, all over the world!

This is going to be the epidemy of a butterfly effect, are you ready to see a shit storm?!  This is it.  A whole ecological system…is ruined.  And we may not feel the effects…YET, on our side of the country, but we will. In time.  So what can I do? Here, helpless in California?  What I’d really like to do, is get down there, but I can’t.

Instead, I can help the only way I can from here, for now. How Can You Help? And hope, and pray for the best.

51 days….and counting.  How upsetting. The silence is deafening.

Gaga

I'm not usually one that will write about current events, or celebrities.   More than anything, I feel like it's because you can get that anywhere, and also, opinions of current events, or stars, or celebrity gossip sometimes can lead to misinterpretation and people can be offended, or it may stir up some silly arguments.  But, I decided that today I wanted to switch it up.  I was excited to see Lady Gaga on the cover of Cosmo.  Those magazines can sure be a kick in the pants sometimes...they get your attention by putting some scandalous title on the cover....and then the story is seriously 1 paragraph.  Oh well...I was, just excited to read"Love Advice Only Gaga Would Give."

Did you know that Lady Gaga is only 24?  I didn't.  One thing I like most on her face?  Her beauty mark below her right eye.  I have the same thing. Right below my left eye.  And I love her very prominent nose.  I love prominent noses period.  Very sexy. Up until the MTV Video Music Awards in September, I thought she was crazy.  I refused to want to like her.  But then, something in me was like "She's pretty fucking awesome." Yes...sure she wears some crazy ass costumes, but that is her job....she's an entertainer.  She rocks my socks.

I love her motivation, and her steadfastness even when people told her she'd be nothing.  And now...she's everywhere.  She says in her Cosmo interview "Some women choose to follow men, and some women choose to follow their dreams...if you're wondering which way to go, remember that your career or dreams will never wake up one day and tell you that it doesn't love you anymore." While I believe everyone has to find balance between dreams, careers, friends and romance, I also tend to agree with what she is saying.

She has a tattoo in the inside of her left arm...who knew she was so deep to want to put something like this permanently on her body.

'In the deepest hour of the night, confess to yourself that you would die if you were forbidden to write. And look deep into your heart where it spreads its roots, the answer, and ask yourself, must I write?' ~Rainer Maria Rilke

Happy writing.
