Happy Friday my friends and family!!

I'm just about headed out the door to head up to Chico to see friends, and celebrate Mom's day with both of my moms, but I wanted to share these before I leave.

My gf Beena e-mailed me these last night.  We had such a fun on this night, I love them to pieces.

Hey OH!  I'm back friends.  Lot's to talk about and all while watching the Dodgers v. Giants game. What could be better than getting out of town with A-Kohl, and going to my favorite city, to see some of my most treasured friends?  Oh...not much.  I was ready for a break, and to go on a pseudo vacay out of here, so about a month ago, bubs and I sat and bought tickets together.  And, last Tuesday we scidaddled real quick out of here to SFO.  (Oh PS, I hate that Airport--like a lot) On Wednesday early afternoon we showed up and the fun started.  I wish I could explain to you the feeling I get every time I see D.C. from the air.  You don't have to go over seas, or spend a ton of money to see amazing history, and to find out where your story may have started and where this country did start.

  But, every time I see the Monument, and the mall from the air; a huge smile stretches across my face, and every time I leave, my eyes well up with tears.  My girl friend acted as hostess to us again this year.  Only this time she lives straight in the hustle and bustle of the city.  I was so excited, no metro, no bus, only walking and cabbing.  Although it was fa-reezing the first full day we were there, we managed.  Walking to the National Mall, and going in and out of museum exhibits.  Thursday night we ate oysters, and stayed up way too late watching ridiculous clips on YouTube, and drinking too much wine.  Friday was exciting because AKohl's cousin and husband moved to DC almost 2 years ago, and by a very CRAZY coincidence she is friends with my friends.  When I found this out a year ago, my mind was blown.  We met up with her after our really amazing tour around the Capitol building, and headed to the Art Museum, and although I am more of a fan of sculptures and things like, was in awe as I looked at original paintings from Picaso, Van Gogh, and Monet.  Right there, in my face.  It's amazing, and if you are into it, you should really make a visit there at some point.  My most favorite night/museum was "A Night at the Newseum: way out of line" night.  Hello, I went to college for journalism.  I love the news and if not for the price to get into this museum, I'd go every time.  It covers things from way back when, and also news and the way things were covered on tragedies like 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina.  It has artifacts from those days that were featured on Anderson Cooper.  Anyway, that night they had it all decked up club style with DJ's and bars, and Shannon and I even broad casted our own news story.  I'll find it around here somewhere and post it when I do. And, Saturday we roamed around the city and took in the Cherry Blossoms, and hiked it on over to Arlington Cemetery. Honestly, I had an amazing trip.  I loved that my sugar was with me, and I loved seeing my friends who not only do we have an amazing past together but continue to make really wonderful memories for years to come.  Now, I took like 197 pictures, and although I'd like to share most of them, I won't.  But--for memories sake, enjoy.  I love D.C. I love my friends, I love my guy, I love my life.

Much more to update you on...including moving...we all know how much I love doing that, this time though...it's different.

This won't be a long post; although, I could write on and on about my visiting this amazing place.  My favorite Memorial of all of them is the Lincoln Memorial.  It's giant, and so magnificent. It stares out at everything, from every angle you can see most of the city.  This is where MLK Jr. gave his famous speech.  It sits right next to the Vietnam War Memorial, and stares out at the Washington Monument.

All of the monuments are giant, and perfect in their own way.  The Tidal Basin that is outlined by the Cherry Blossoms was full of Paddle Boats, and the Cherry Blossoms were in full bloom  It was after all the Cherry Blossom Festival Weekend.  I didn't mind the wind, and Shannon and I were making crazy, inappropriate remarks about anything and everything in our path.  We in turn, got a look from a lady in front of us, that just sent us into hysterics.

I was sad for the day to end. But, I was happy that I got to be out in the city, that I love to love.

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!  Of course, today we are celebrating an amazing man, with ambition and steadfastness' birthday.

I was always raised to treat people, all colors, shapes, sizes, equally.  My parents were raised the same way, and that's something they passed on to me and my brothers.  And for that, I feel lucky.

I've been lucky to get to go to Washington D.C. 3 times in my life, and then once more this year.  I have best friends that live over there, and I get to wander around the Capital Mall, go to the farmer's markets, see the street vendors.  But Washington D.C represents a lot to me, as a lover of history, it's where a lot of things begin, and end.  Where history is made, every day, and dreams can come true.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a believer of his dreams.  He was determined to make change, even when it was dangerous. I think he knew that something would happen to him, but he was bound to make a change

I sat and had lunch on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial when I visited last March, looked out at what he saw when he was making an unforgettable speech.  I think, too often we forget what having a vision really means, and what the sacrifices are that have been made to see things change in this country.
